Special Needs Room
Our highly experienced SEN Staff aim to deliver effective provision for those children who are identified as having on-going needs. Whilst also catering for the
wider range of pupils who may need either short-term general support or have a specific difficulty with which they require support.
Special Needs Support is mainly given in the classroom situation, managed by the teacher but often provided by a Learning Support Assistant. There is a Special Needs Unit known as “The Little Room”. Staff working in “The Little Room” provides a timetabled range of support and targeted learning activities. Small groups and individuals work in “The Little Room” on areas identified in their Individual Education Programmes (IEP). Groupings in the Little Room are made on a needs basis and contain children of different ages. There are computers available to support the learning. It is the school’s policy to include all children in all aspects of the curriculum. Care is taken to emphasise the children’s strengths and help them to cope with their difficulties.
The Green Room
Our team of Learning Mentors are available to work with any child who needs help to overcome difficulties that are affecting their learning. A ‘worry box’, designed by the children enables discrete communication between pupils and the Learning Mentors.
