Welcome

St Cuthbert’ CofE Junior School is a Church of England School, first established by the Diocese of Bath and Wells in the early 1800s we were originally called Wells Central CofE Junior School.

We have strong connections with St. Cuthbert’s Parish Church and Wells Cathedral. The school moved from its old site in town to its present location in 1977.  The school is set in well maintained, spacious and attractive grounds in a mainly residential area. The external environment includes playing fields, an all-weather cricket strip, landscaped gardens, a farm area, stream and wooded conservation area.

Staff and governors are committed to providing a rich and stimulating environment, in which all children can develop according to their strengths. Strong Christian values can be seen throughout the school, and staff believe that children do best when they feel secure, enthusiastic and challenged.

On-going developments to the curriculum make it more exciting and practical. The school has a strong sporting tradition, and also enthusiastically supports the arts, with visiting musicians, artists and drama groups. The Farm club have developed a thriving allotment and polytunnel area and the woodland and environmental area adds to our outward bound provision. The school is very well equipped for computers, art, design and technology, science, music and drama, pottery and games.

There is a large library, with a vast choice of fiction and non-fiction books which the children sign out using the digital scanners.

The computer suite, makes use of the latest technology, including internet access and a wide range of child-friendly software. Each child has access to the suite every week, as well as being able to use computers in classrooms. All the classrooms have an interactive whiteboard.
